The major shareholder of AVD Consulting, Andre van Dyk, developed the first Deflagrating Rock Breaking cartridge in the world and is known as the Father of Deflagrating Technology (Nonex and GBT) in the world.
It is because of this fact that AVD Consulting ventured into the harsh world of mining and civil engineering and developed specific methods for the application of breaking rock and concrete.

HISTORY
After developing the first Deflagrating Rock Breaking Cartridge in 2000, the inventor , Andre van Dyk , decided it was time to introduce this technology into the market.
This was no easy task as we wanted to break into a very old market with very solid traditions and methods. We literally had to teach an old dog new tricks.
Slow penetration into the market taught us endurance and patience. A major breakthrough came when we succesfully completed the first tunnel development by introducing an electronic timing methodology.
In 2012 we developed a method of tunnelling while setting up the new underground mining exhibition at the well known Gold Reef City.
In 2013 we consulted on a major project in Canada, by developing tunnels underneath a well known historical building in Ottawa. This project proved that very delicate tunnelling operations could be done with Non Detonating Technology.
The tunnelling method was successfully introduced in one of the major gold producers in the world, AngloGold Ashanti. We were invited to demonstrate the technology in high-stressed rock conditions. This was a world-first and with AngloGold Ashanti, we currently hold the record for quick and safe tunnel development operations.
